Writers and Artists on the Future of Energy

Writers And Artists on the Future of Energy

In this book, Alberta writers, poets, and artists think about energy transition and climate change. How can we envision the future? What actual options are already there? How should society adapt? How should we protect the environment? Is this an opportunity for change regarding equity and reconciliation? What are problems and challenges? What are the cultural changes? To envision and be inspired, Eveline Kolijn, editor and curator of the project, connected the artists and writers with a network of Alberta experts, thinkers, and influencers from the Energy Futures Lab, together with members from Alberta’s town, rural communities, and First Nations. The covered topic is universally shared around the world. Alberta is Canada’s oil province and serves as a microcosm of all the challenges and opportunities that the world faces in decarbonizing society, with its current energy needs and consumer lifestyles. This makes the Alberta Story a Global Story.

The publisher of this upcoming book, Durvile & UpRoute Books, is based in Alberta and is committed to create a book that can be as sustainable as possible. Durvile is working with print shops to ensure the best-case-scenarios in sustainability and low carbon impact. The book is forthcoming in April 2023 and coincides with the publication of an original, hand- printed fine arts portfolio titled “Energy Futures” by the same contributors.
