In our tiny studio on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, Ramshackle Theatre creates cardboard puppet shows out of recycled materials, outdoor theatre events and original plays for Yukon and national audiences.
Since 2010 Ramshackle Theatre has been hosting Theatre in Bush- an outdoor multi-disciplinary event that takes place in the boreal forest just outside of Whitehorse, Yukon. Originally intended as a one-off theatre bush party, the event has grown into an annual community celebration that features new talent, seasoned veterans of the Yukon arts community and national performers. With a goal of leaving as small a footprint as possible. Theatre in the Bush is an ephemeral theatre event that brings together artists and audience in the forest every fall equinox.
As a touring company we have presented our cardboard science fiction puppet shows across the country and in every community in the Yukon. Our work has been seen in Old Crow, at Summerworks in Toronto, the Magnetic North Theatre Festival, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and at many Yukon schools.
Since the pandemic, we have been hunkered down in the tiny studio creating new work and continuing to host our annual Theatre in the Bush event for locals.
