EARTH DAY 2023: HONOUR DANCE FOR CREATION

This is an open invitation for any climate artists, advocates, and activists ages 19+ to participate in a collective art-making project to raise awareness about endangered species in Canada. Facilitated by accomplished First Nation nehiyaw iskwew (Cree) artist, Sandra Lamouche, participants will make artwork or puppets to honour an endangered species of their own choosing. We will record an honour dance together for a video to be shared on Earth Day 2023.

Please note that it is asked that participants attend all three sessions. If you are not able to do so for whatever reason please reach out to the organizing artist at sandraiskwew (at ) gmail.com

I released 2 vids on youtube seeking to incite all Canadian Musicians and Poets to enter a clearcut; film, play, recite, show, and oppose. Hope other artists will link to this, provoke a spontaneous movement of Artists to end Clearcutting this decade, like before I die. Easier than ending hospital cigarette smoking and much more fun, but we all need to lean into this and put the time in.

Re-imagining the Future: A teach-in on fostering environmental stewardship in theatre and performance training

Re-Imagining the Future is a teach-in on fostering environmental stewardship in theatre and performance education, conceived of, and hosted by, the Environmental Stewardship Working Group of the Canadian Association for Theatre Research (CATR).

Our event partners are: the Centre for Sustainable Practice in the Arts (CSPA), the Canadian Green Alliance (CGA), Sectoral Climate Arts Leadership for the Emergency (SCALE), and the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT).

The first 90 minutes will consist of presentations, followed by break-out rooms that support the integration of ecological principles into existing curriculum.

Please register in advance and identify your syllabus area: design, theatre history, theory/analysis, production, performance/acting, directing, or new play creation.
