On October 27th and 28th, in cooperation with the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade and UNDP Serbia, Green Art Incubator platform is organizing the two-day hybrid international event Climate Art Hub, which will gather leading experts and professionals in the field of performing and audio-visual arts in a dialogue on the green agenda in culture.

On October 28th at 10 am CET, as a part of the project, a panel session, Learn to Unlearn: New Eco Production Models in the (Future) Theatre will be held, focusing on the role and utilization of (eco) materials in the context of scenography and costumes in the performing arts. It will bring together as many as five global experts working in this field- Ian Garett, Adam Marple, Haeweon Yi, Michaela Rýgrová, and Nadia Fistarol.

In preparation for Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, come by the University of Calgary TFDL Quad on September 28th between 2-5 pm to put your voice into action! The TRC Calls Read Aloud Event aims to hold a space for the community to actively consider the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. Together, we will read aloud the TRC Calls to amplify their impact. We will also spend time engaging with others about how these Calls can be realized in our daily lives. This event is open to all individuals and communities, both on campus and off.

TRAction, producer of the Climate Art Web, is seeking a specialist in graphic design/document layout to support the design of two documents. Over the past year, TRAction has been working with a group of Indigenous artist advisors from across Northern Turtle Island to generate these documents – a brief one that summarizes TRAction’s organizational pillars and a larger Decolonial Toolkit that supports efforts to decolonize the climate art sector. Both documents are currently in Word; however, we are interested in having someone develop layout design that can communicate the texts with supportive visual graphics. The documents will be shared as freely available resources via the TRAction and Climate Art Web websites (likely in pdf format). TRAction’s Indigenous Advisory Council has specified a preference for an Indigenous designer to realize this project.
Since its inception, TRAction has worked to honour and learn from Indigenous ways of knowing. TRAction works in close relationship with an Indigenous Advisory Council, a group of Indigenous artists, educators and/or knowledge keepers that includes Chantal Stormsong Chagnon, Sandra Lamouche, Cole Alvis, Starr Muranko and Jacob Crane. As a collective whose ethics are based on developing relationality as well as being held accountable to the Indigenous communities of the lands we are on, TRAction is grateful beyond words for what these individuals offer in terms of time, knowledge and experience.

What might it take to un-numb to the pains and pleasures of our entanglement with non-human beings and the systems by which they are subjected to extraction and extinction? In what ways can artistic practices be an enzyme that supports our digestion of difficult and complex emotions which arise as we increasingly face Climate and Nature Emergency? What are practices that might help us tend to, metabolize and compost the affects of this wit(h)nessing?

In this session participants will be invited to engage with some of the embodied exercises developed by artists integrating the 2022/23 PWIAS artist digital residency who have been investigating practices to expand the limited sensorium of modernity and develop sources of stamina for the slow and challenging work of moving beyond common patterns of simplistic solutions, remaining grounded and attentive to what it means to be human within a wider web of relations.

The experiential session will include practices created by Alysha Seriani, Andréa Monteiro, Cadence Planthara, Carolina Duque, Clifford Berrien, Kimberly Skye Richards, Reed Jackson, Melanie Kloetzel, Naser Al Sughaiyer, Willow Cioppa and Sidi Chen, throughout a nine months online program, a series of 6 artistic practice immersion sessions and week-long in person residency curated by Dani d’Emilia.

Space is limited to 20 participants.
